Camara Education is an international educational organisation dedicated to delivering real impact through technology by inspiring and empowering a young generation to improve their own life opportunities. Their mission is to transform education using technology to empower disadvantaged students. Their vision is a world-class technology-enabled education accessible to all.
Founded in 2005 in Dublin, Ireland, Camara has built a proven model of ‘education delivery’ that is both sustainable and highly scalable. Camara is a registered charity in the US, Ireland and the UK. Their services are delivered through a network of local education hubs in Ethiopia, Kenya, Zambia, Lesotho, Tanzania and Ireland, alongside a resource Hub in Dublin and London. All hubs operate as social enterprises and operate to serve local market needs through a sustainable business model.
Employees from Infectious Media worked with this amazing organisation to help ship hardware to Africa with free software so that children can have access to computers, where they otherwise wouldn’t have.
Over 2 days employees from Infectious Media helped to clean and box 428 monitors and 88 laptops. Camara estimated that each piece goes on to impact at least 21 children by giving access to technology, digital literacy skills and greater life options. That's over 10,000 children.
In the last twelve and a half years, Camara has enabled more than 2.6 million young people to achieve better educational outcomes and to improve their life opportunities, through raising and generating €24m, training 42,500 educators across 7,800 educational institutes and installing 106,500 computers and devices.
If you are interested in helping change children's lives, Camara are always looking for donations or volunteers to help them. If you know your IT department are looking to get rid of old and unused desktops, get in touch with Camara here.
