Our Infectious Media ‘Career Pathways’ series of interviews aims to highlight working life, as well as the career options available to our staff. Here, Jasmine Ong, Associate Account Director, in our Singapore office, tells us about his journey at Infectious Media.
Prior to joining IM, I was in an account management role at a specialist search agency. I joined IM because they were at the forefront of programmatic and I liked the fact that the role was hybrid, a mix of client handling and campaign management.
There is a huge team culture at IM, especially in Singapore. The team is very supportive. This is particularly noticeable in these Covid times, IM really is a company who cares.
Working in the digital industry, you never really stand still. Although this is one of our values, we really live it - we walk the talk. This has really helped me evolve my career, my experience has expanded in many different directions. I have hands on knowledge and can get into very detailed conversations with clients but I also look at the bigger picture in terms of strategy, new business and new partnerships. It’s been awesome.
What is your understanding of the differences between the UK and Singapore markets?
The market we operate in, largely across South East Asia is very multi-cultural, so we need to be very aware of this. We need to have detailed knowledge of all the markets and use this information to our advantage.
What advice would you give to someone thinking about entering into a career in digital?
Never settle, never stop learning. Things change so quickly and you need to constantly be on top of these changes. At the moment privacy is top on the agenda.
What do you like best about working at Infectious Media?
I know it’s cheesy but it’s the people. Everyone from the top down really embraces our values. We have a very strong team ethos. The culture is very open but also constantly seeking knowledge and open to change.
